Clinton proposed to suspend the gasoline tax ($0.18/gal) during summer. Obama said that can only save each person 28 dollars for the entire summer.
Based on a simple division, we know 28/0.18 =150. So I can only use 150 gallons of gasoline for the entire summer. Unfortunately a bitter person like me has to drive 50 miles each way to work – not even counting shopping, taking kids to school, etc., etc., etc. I drive a new sedan with high oil efficiency, but I fill my tank 2-3 times a week, each time for about 10 gallons. So each time it’s 1.8-dollar-saving right there. Based on Obama’s calculation, I can only fill my tank 15 times, which means I have to stay home half of the summer. Imagine those with SUVs and mini-vans. They can only work for 2-3 weeks for the entire summer?
Perhaps Obama can afford to do that – with Rezko buying him $600K yard, he can move his office next door. But not me.
I wonder if Obama’s economic advisors can do a simple division. I also wonder what Obama’s SAT score on math was when he went to Harvard. No Obama supporters seem to have any problems with his math, that made me wonder what their SAT scores on math were – many of them college students. 200? Oops, is it too much for them to count? But one thing is certain: that’s exactly why they support Obama.
Somebody would say anything to get elected. Guess who that person is.
In fact, I should take the above sentence back and add a new part to it: Somebody would say anything to get elected yet accusing others for doing so. Now guess who that person is.
At least Hillary does not have the second part. Plus she can do division.

Um, it's an average. Meaning the amount you save could be higher or lower depending upon your fuel consumption. I too drive 50+ miles one way every day to work. The tax 'holiday' would save me about $5.04/week (14 gallon tank * $.18 * 2 times/week)--assuming that the savings would actually be $.18. I would rather pay this $5/week if it means that thousands of individuals don't lose their jobs.
I'm surprised that interpreted his plan as capped at $28. Drive all you want and 'theoretically' you will save $.18 per gallon. No one is implying you can't drive the rest of the summer....
CHANGE???? DIMS DELIVERED!!!!!!!!
This is a good reminder of just how the Demograft Party delivers on the promises of their candidates!
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; (Hillary, and the Dem’s were going to “fix” this, remember?)
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) the cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
7) The value of the U.S. dollar has plummeted.
oil price, doubled.
9)job expansion? OVER, and now going backward.
)10Groceries up 70 dollars on average per month.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Your arithmetic is terribly flawed - because you start out with a statistical lie. Perhaps your post should be titled "Gas Tax and My Pathetic Lie".
There's no "cap" on what you can save. Your savings is $0.184 per gallon - period. It doesn't matter how much you use; that's what you'd save.
Everyone's driving situation is different, just like pump prices are different everywhere. But the gas tax holiday saves a fixed amount, whether you buy regular, premium or diesel.
Of course, this assumes that the savings ever makes it to the pump. Obama has already been through this as a legislator in Illinois. They voted for a gas tax holiday in 2000 - but the oil companies and gas station owner raised prices to eat up the savings. Bottom line: consumers saw NO benefit.
Imagine: a leader who makes a policy mistake, learns from it, and doesn't repeat it.
Thank you for pointing out Obama's political shell game on the gas tax. Obama's preposterous claim that Americans will only save $28 is calculated based on driving habits of the city dwelling latte liberal crowd, who either don't drive, or don't know how to drive. The actual savings, for a typical suburban or rural American who drives to work everyday, can easily stretch into the hundreds of dollars over the course of the summer. While $100 or $200 might not sound like much, it really matters to Americans who are hurting, which is to say, not Obama's latte sipping limo crowd. Obama's utter disregard for the average working American and his dishonesty are disgusting. I will never join his coalition of elitists and welfare recipients, the ones tearing our country apart. As a proud American, I will not vote for a foreigner and a closet black militant / Muslim for our President!
